Although, initially disturbing, if the book did compromise National Security, then I can go along with it. However, the information that was contained is now already disseminated. So, what’s the REAL reason for this burning?
Why is the OBAMA administration allowed to have a PASS on this? If this was the case during the Bush Administration, we would never have heard the end of it? Where are the BLEEDING HEART LIBERALS that would protest this? Where are those HYPOCRITES?
Don’t get ME wrong. Since, we are still in a theater of war, I don’t necessarily disagree with this action. However, the democRATS that exposed our military’s positions and put our military in danger by announcing their targets, those are the ones that are currently NOT speaking out. They are LIARS in their philosophies. This is something that they should denounce or they will be exposed for the true hypocrites that they are.
This calls in to question all the conspiracy theories out there and how much validity that could be out there?
Not A Joke: The Pentagon Just Destroyed Thousands Of Books:
by Glynnis MacNicol | 12:30 pm, September 26th, 2010
Last week the Pentagon destroyed thousands of copies of a single book. The book was Army Reserve Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer’s new memoir “Operation Dark Heart”, about his time in Afghanistan leading a black-ops team, and the Pentagon was so determined the public not read portions of it they purchased all 9,500 copies of it directly from its publisher, St. Martins, with the express purpose of destroying it. From CNN:
“DoD decided to purchase copies of the first printing because they contained information which could cause damage to national security,” Pentagon spokeswoman Lt. Col. April Cunningham said.
In a statement to CNN, Cunningham said defense officials observed the September 20 destruction of about 9,500 copies of Army Reserve Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer’s new memoir “Operation Dark Heart.”
Shaffer says he was notified Friday about the Pentagon’s purchase.
As Shaffer points out the idea that destroying a book can keep information from being spread is “ludicrous.” Still, the idea of the Pentagon destroying books is unsettling. Meanwhile, a new version of the books with the sensitive parts redacted is set to be printed shortly. It appears the Pentagon could not have provided a better advertising campaign than this.
